Bonny Lou Mathers

Bonny Lou Mathers, 79, passed away November 8th, 2017 at home with family by her side. Bonny Lou Mathers was born Bonny Lou Mack at her grandma Thompsons home outside of Steamboat Springs, CO. on November 2nd, 1939 to Alfred J. and Edith M. Mack. She was a middle child of six (Billy, Betty, Bobby, Beverly, and Becky). They all grew up together on their family ranch in Steamboat Springs, CO. In 1954 she married her first husband Robert Powell, SR. They had five children Calvin, Kathy, Bob JR, Wayne, and Twyla. After they divorced she married her second husband, Alden Omer Mathers (Slim) in 1964 and became mom to his three children Clayton, Keith, and Joann. Together they also had two more children, Glen and Delbert. Slim and her lived in Missouri for a few years to be close to slims parents. When they were living in Missouri she also had a stillborn child named Baby Edith. This was a very hard time in her life. Shortly after the loss of the baby in 1970 they moved back to Colorado for a short time. Then in 1975 Bonny and Slim moved to Plains, MT to be closer to her parents. They build a life here in Plains and in 1986 they added another child to their family named Alfred. Bonny was a homemaker for most of her life. She had a deep love for children and animals, and dedicated her life to them. She also enjoy doing many different kinds of crafts. For many years she helped with Awanas and also helped her husband Slim and her son Bob JR sell handmade furniture at swap meets. She made many friends there. Bonny is preceded in death by her parents, husband Slim, and two children Keith and Baby Edith. Surviving are her children Calvin (Vicki) Powell, Kathy (John) Stockwell, Bob Powell JR, Wayne (Bev) Powell, Clay Mathers, Twyla Bauer, Joann (Joe) Mathers, Glen (Kathleen) Mathers, Delbert Mathers, Alfred (Kassie) Mathers, and her 33 grandchildren, and approximately 60 great grandchildren. Bonnys memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 18th, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Plains Bible Chapel. With a potluck lunch to follow.
