Brian Duncan Parrish

August 1, 1961 — December 1, 2024

Brian Duncan Parrish, 63, of Noxon, departed this life, surrounded by his family on December 1, 2024.

He is survived by his one true love Linda, whom he married on March 4, 1998, in Stone Ridge, New York. They went to school together, worked together and shared an incredible journey of love together, recently celebrating their 26th anniversary. They have five beautiful children, Isolde Rhiannon, Johnce Banquo, Epona Boudicca, Bran Duncan, and Fiona Branwen. His family was the joy of this life, and his proudest accomplishment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnce E. Parrish, and Joan L. Parrish.

Brian Duncan Parrish was born August 1, 1961, in Downey, California. Brian earned a Masters Degree in Social Work at Adelphi University in New York, in 1999. He devoted much of his career helping at-risk, neglected, and abused children, and spent more than thirty years as a public servant. He was the first Social Worker ever named as Director of the Psychiatric Emergency Department, at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, New York, which was identified during his tenure, as a model for emergency mental health throughout the State. He treated survivors of the World Trade Center terrorist attack on 09/11/2001, and, deeply moved by those experiences, volunteered for the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps. He was commissioned as a Captain, at West Pointe, New York, and served in Iraq, during the "surge", at a time when the Army suicide rate had reached unprecedented levels. CPT Parrish was lauded as the "top" behavioral health officer in theatre, developing a model treatment program with 24-hour operations in Baghdad. CPT Parris never lost a Soldier to suicide, and he was published in the Army Medical Journal for his achievements in Iraq. In Texas, he continued to treat, and advocate, for Soldiers, and Veterans, in the Federal service, and in his private practice, that featured equine facilitated therapy. He taught Military Social Work at Texas A& M University and was one of the whistleblowers who took a stand against corruption in the Veterans Health Administration. Brian believed that he had achieved his heartfelt desire to leave a legacy of faith, integrity, courage, service, and a deep and abiding gratitude for all of the many blessings that had been bestowed upon him, by his Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A special note of thanks to family, and friends, that helped provide care, support, and prayers, as Brians health declined. Memorials should be made to the Christians United for Israel.
