Joesph Walter Davis

October 3, 1937 — May 19, 2013

Joe was born on October 3. 1937 in Hot Springs, Montana to Emil and Sophia Jahnke. They lived in Hot Springs, Lone Pine, and Camas. The kids enjoyed visiting their Grandparents and Uncle Carl Jahnke on the homestead in Niarada, Mt. When Emil and Sophia Jahnke divorced, the five younger children were put up for adoption. Joe and Bart lived with their Uncle Carl on his ranch and in a foster home in Thompson Falls, Mt. In 1949, they were adopted by Ernest and Nina Davis of Corvallis, Mt. In 1958 most of the kids reunited at their Uncle Carl Jahnke's Ranch. They then started having family reunions. Joe was schooled in Corvallis. He was a rancher and worked for the Forest Service, where he fought fires for 20 years. When he wasn't fighting fires, he would clean up paths, camping spots, and fixed up camping tables. Joe loved the outdoors, whether it was in the woods or working in his yard. Joe met Blanche Owen when she had the place next to his. She couldn't figure out what made a man do his ranch work at night, until she found out he worked for the Forest Service in the day. They were married on October 25, 1975 in his home in Corvallis. They lived on the ranch until they sold it in 1994 and moved to Reed Point, Mt. where they bought another ranch. They had a Bed and Breakfast there. He boarded horses. Joe would haul water for the other ranchers during the summer. They lived there from 1994-2002, when they sold the ranch and moved to trout Creek, Mt. Joe was a member of the Senior Center and enjoyed playing pinochle. Survivors include his wife Blanche at their home, step-daughter Mary Ed Berry and husband Pete, Brother Bart Davis, Sisters Elizabeth Smith, Mary Kerns and Georgia Potter, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, William, Emil Jr., Archie and Donald Jahnke, and sister Ethel Henderson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Senior Citizen Center of Thompson Falls, Mt. Services will be held at Cabinet Mountain Bible Church at Trout Creek on August 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
