Louie Edwards Obituary Louie Bradley Edwards Died at the age of 92. Born on February 4th 1927 in Big Fork, Arkansas and died Wednesday, April 10th 2019, of natural causes. At the time of his death he was a resident of Plains, Montana. Louie was the son of Cynthia (Reed) and Carlson Bradley Edwards. Louie and his brother Toy were raised by their paternal grandparents, being taken in soon after the death of their father. Louie was drafted into the army at the age of 18 near the end of WWII. After his basic training he went to Japan. The war ended while the ship he was on was in transit to Japan. After being involved in cleanup and restoring civil order the 77th infantry was deactivated and he then joined the paratroopers serving with the 11th airborne division in Japan. Upon returning to the US he met Dorothy Jean Beam who would become his wife of 46 years. Louie then went to work at Tinker Field air force base in Oklahoma City as a sheet metal worker. He transferred to Alaska in March of 1956. There he continued to repair aircraft as a sheet metal worker at Elmendorf Air Force Base. At the time Alaska was not a state. In 1959 he saw the transition to a state and the heightened preparation for possible war with Russia during the Cuban missile crisis. In 1964 he went through the second most powerful earthquake ever experienced on the planet, the 9.2 magnitude, 1964 Alaskan Earthquake. After living in Chugiak, Alaska, a small community outside Anchorage he moved to Sterling, Alaska in the mid 1980s. His favorite past times growing up were fishing and coon hunting. He was an avid hunter and fisherman all his life. He loved to garden and had a green thumb. Louie and his wife took in many foster children. He was a leader in a Christian organization called The Boys Brigade. Louie is survived by his son, Carl Edwards, his daughter Andrenia Harvey, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Dorothy Jean Edwards passed away earlier than Louie, having died on July 5th 1995 in Plains, Montana. His oldest son Louie Bradley Jr. died on April 2 1976 in Chugiak, Alaska. His brother Toy Edwards died on March 12 in 2012 in Mena, Arkansas. Memorial services will be at 2:00 on Tuesday, April 16th, 2019 at Plains Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Plains, Montana.
