Maurice "Mouse" Walter Helterline

Maurice "Mouse" Walter Helterline died April 27, 2016 of heart failure at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

Maurice was born in the old St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula on December 19, 1938 to John and Rose Green/Helterline. He was the youngest of ten children.

He grew up in Plains and graduated from Plains High School. Later he graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula.

He served in the US Army from 1962 to 1963 in Germany. His passion was writing, history and genealogy research. He published three editions of "Horse Plains, Montana Territory." He researched all the burials in Sanders County and published an index of them. He also researched and published the Helterline family history.

Maurice is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Maurice is survived by his brother David (Shirley) of Plains and four sisters Virginia Malm of SLC, UT; Joan Jackson of Elkins, WV; Peggy Garrison (Delmer) of Plains; and Carol Sanders of Helena, MT.

Funeral Mass was to be said Wedneday, May 4, 2016 at 11 am at the St. James Catholic Church in Plains. Luncheon was to follow at the Plains VFW Hall. Memorials can be made to the St. James Catholic Church or a charity of the donors choice.
