Paul
Posey
Jun 2, 1950 — Sep 9, 2026
Paul Warren Posey, 76, died of an apparent heart attack on September 9, 2026. Paul was born in Deadwood, South Dakota, to Clark Byron Posey and Iva Lucille Bitner Posey. He was the youngest of seven children. Two other children had died before he was born. He grew up in Lead, South Dakota.
Paul was not called to serve in the military because he was the youngest child. He was married and divorced a couple of times before he met the love of his life in 1990 and married her, Sandy Moles. The marriage only lasted six months because Paul had been single for so long, he forgot you have to consult with your partner about things. When he finally figured that out, they remarried in 1991. They lived together for over 28 years.
He had a lot of health problems, but during his lifetime Paul was an auto mechanic and he was good at it. He also learned to be a water well driller. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and liked to camp.
When he retired, he helped Sandy with her passion at a second hand store they owned together.
They divorced in 2019 because of Paul's illness, bipolar disorder. But even then, they remained the best of friends and still loved each other deeply. In the last couple of years before his death, Paul came to visit a good friend and he invited (insisted) that Paul not drive back home to Libby, Montana, but instead move in with him and his son. So he did.
Paul is survived by his ex-wife, Sandy Posey; two brothers, Steve Posey of Deaver, Wyo., and Ned Posey of Thompson Falls; and a sister, Faith Posey of Nogales, Ariz.; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Posey, of Simi, Calif. He also has numerous nieces and nephews on both his side and Sandy's side of the family. Unfortunately, Paul was never blessed with kids of his own, but he did have one special young lady he called his daughter. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and brothers Scott, Dennis and Jim Posey.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
