Rheta May Doty

May 7, 1928 — March 4, 2013

Rheta May(Hagerman) Doty Rheta went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 4, 2013. Rheta was born to Harry and Elva Hagerman on May 7, 1928. She was joined by a sister Ruth in 1930. They were both born in the old Grey's house, which was just a block from where they grew up. Their mother Elva bought the land and later had an old barn moved there. The barn was converted into a house. They raised chickens and had a large garden. She spent many weekends with her dad marking railroad ties to be placed on the railroad tracks. Her dad would tell her to wear a cap and overalls so people would think she was a boy. They also spent a lot of time playing and fishing along the river. She attended elementary and high school in Thompson Falls. Rheta married and had two children, Juanita Jahnke (Grambel) and Melvin Jahnke. She divorced and later met and married James (Jim) Doty in 1963. They had a daughter, Jamey Doty (King) in 1964. They lived at Eddy and up Swamp Creek in Plains. They moved to the ranch in Weekville in the early 70's. They raised cattle and always had a large garden every year. In 2003 they sold their place, but continued to live there until 2010 when they moved to Thompson Falls. Mom enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She had a gift for making things by looking at a picture and not using a pattern. As was the beautiful dollies she crocheted until entering the hospital. She is roceeded in death by her mother and father, Harry and Elva Hagerman, her son Melvin, sister Ruth and husband James. Rheta is survived by her daughters Juanita Grambel (Tom) and Jamey King (Earl); Brother-in-law, Dan Doty; grandchildren Mitch Wolff(Meghan), Terra Wolff (Justus), Travis King, Felicia Million (Larry) and several other grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
