Roy William Merriman

Roy William Merriman of Noxon, age 94, passes away Saturday, Oct. 17 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. Roy was born September 14, 1921, in Pittsburg, PA. He married Lucille Fiske, the love of his life, Dec. 26, 1948 Roundup, MT. They were married for 59 years. He was an ironworker, always a union man and everything he bought had to be made in the USA. Roy loved to sing and what a voice he had. He loved all kinds of music, especially accordion. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille, his parents, twin sister Mary Jane, brother Jim, three grandchildren, numerous relatives and countless friends. He is survived by his children, MaryAnn (Emil) Torp of Post Falls, Idaho; Bill (Beth) Pirried of Seattle, WA; Roy E. Merriman of Billings, MT; Vickie (Larry) Wright of Walsenburg, CO and Becky (Jason) Lanktree of Missoula, MT; niece Jeanette (David) Owens of East Wenatchee, WA; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great granchildren. A man's life should not be measured in years or by the value of his possessions on the day he died, but by the number of good friends and memories he leaves behind and Roy left many.
