Joe Rogers of Plains, Montana, having fought a courageous battle with cancer passed away on November 29, 2014. He was 70 years old. Joe was born in Hicksville, Ohio July 29, 1944. He graduated from Antwerp High School, Antwerp, Ohio in 1962. He served in the Army and then in the National Guard while doing factory work in Woodburn, Indiana.
His adventuresome spirit led him to Alaska where he lived in the Bush trapping, hunting and prospecting for gold. He worked that Alaska Pipeline and eventually landed in Bristol Bay fishing for salmon. In early 1980 he went into the petroleum business with locations in Dutch Harbor and Seattle.
It was while working in Seattle that he met his lovely wife, Lana Pierce. Once again his love of nature led he and Lani to Montana where they settled in Plains in 1995.
Joe was preceeded in death by sister, Patricia Rogers-Harlin. He is survived by family members: Wife, Lani Pierce-Rogers; mother, Kathryn Rogers of Hicksville, Ohio; sisters, Judy Johnson and Debra Cacino of Hicksville, Ohio; brother, Jim Rogers of Plains, Montana; niece, Tina Johnson-Judy; nephews, Matt Johnson, Billy, Gene and Jim Harlin; cousins, Bill Bricker, Nancy Chapman and his life long, best friend, Duane DuCharme of Indiana.
