April 25, 1948 — October 18, 2021

Sueanne Fewkes Obituary Sueanne Fewkes, 73, of Thompson Falls, MT, passed away on October 18, 2021, due to post COVID complications, although the family truly believes it was a broken heart. Sueanne was born to Joseph and Myrtle Surma in Tide, Pennsylvania. After the loss of her parents, Sueanne moved to California to live with her grandmother and finish her high schooling. Sueanne had a passion for a variety of creative arts and pursued many ventures including china painting, embroidery, ceramics, porcelain dolls, cake decorating, sewing, and lots of other crafts. As the years went by, Sueanne decided to enroll in Cosmetology school and had a valid license at the time of her death. Sueanne was working as a bartender when a blue-eyed sailor caught her attention, and they began chatting. Doug and Sueanne were married in August 1985. The family packed up and moved to San Diego in 1986 to be closer to Dougs duty station. The Navy became a huge part of Sueannes life, and she became a devoted military wife, including serving as the President of the Family Support Group during Desert Storm. After Doug retired from the Navy, Doug and Sueanne moved to Montana, where they had always dreamed of living. Their many adventures took them to Livingston, MT; Utah; Thompson Falls, MT; Sidney, MT; and eventually back to Thompson Falls, MT as they had fallen in love with the area and truly felt at home. Sueanne was an active and devoted member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She held many important positions within the Auxiliary since 2012, and most recently served as the District 1 President, Veterans and Family Support, and was a current Trustee and the Department of Montana Chaplain. Sueanne received a division award for extraordinary work on suicide prevention and mental health awareness. She is also known for her love of cooking and canning, engaging with and teaching children homemaking skills, and having the gift of gab. She had a love for life, for her friends, and for all "her girls," becoming Mom to many of those who knew her. We will honor Sueanne during a joint memorial with her husband Doug. A viewing will be held November 1st from 4 8 pm at Sunset Hills Funeral Home (904 Preston) Av in Thompson Falls, MT. A graveside service will be held on November 2nd at 12:00 pm at Fort Harrison in Helena, MT. Services Graveside Service Fort Harrison Veteran Cemetery Helena, MT Online Memory & Photo Sharing Event
