Mabel G. Ebner of Superior, Montana, passed away from complications of cancer in her home on March 20, 2020, with family and friends by her side. Mabel was born in Salmon, Idaho, on March 1, 1946, to Emery A. Stoumbaugh and Leola B. (Walker) Stoumbaugh. She was raised and attended school in Burke, Idaho and Sandpoint, Idaho, and attended the Job Corps Training Program, having graduated as a dental assistant. She was also a C.N.A. and worked for a short time at the hospital in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She married Maurice A. Ebner of Rathdrum, Idaho, on July 7, 1972, in the Cardston Temple. Of this union, was born a son, Emery A. Ebner, who lived a short time after birth. Thereafter, they were blessed with a daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Ebner) Nef. Mabel lived in various locations throughout Arizona and moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1994. In March of 2015, Mabel and Maurice (Morrie) moved to Superior, Montana. Later that year, they were divorced, and she lived out the rest of her years in Superior.
Mabel was self-educated in creative writing and demonstrated a love of playing with words, having a talent for painting pictures with them. Several of her books were published and known as the Montana series. She was a talented artist in music, poetry, and writing and was skilled in many forms of needle work and many other artistic hobbies. Mabel loved to sing and would never turn down the opportunity to perform. She was a fun loving and happy person to be around. She struggled with bad health most of her life, but now and today she is pain free. She was proceeded in death by her father, Emery A. Stoumbaugh, mother, Leola B. Stoumbaugh, brothers, Eldon E. Stoumbaugh and Mitchel J. Stoumbaugh, and many cousins. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Jeremy) Nef, a brother, Malvin (Sid) R. (Jackie) Stoumbaugh, and four grandchildren: Crystal Nef, Kelsey Neff, Jaydon Neff, and Ginger Neff. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a later time. Burial will be held at the Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum, Idaho.
