Meredith Kay Dolson

Meredith Dolson, 82, passed away on Jan. 10, 2023. She was born on May 29, 1940 in Kalispell to Kenneth and Leila Sherrard McClary.

She was the second of three children. Meredith grew up on the McClary family homestead (Niarada) where she helped with taking care of the cows, pigs and chickens. Meredith attended Lonepine elementary school and later attended Hot Springs High School. She was a member of the band where she played french horn.

In 1957, she met and dated Jack Dolson, whom she later eloped with on July 8, 1957 at the Hitching Post in Coeur D'alene, Idaho.

Many hops down the road, they purchased the family ranch, where they would raise their two children, Candy and Mike. She lived the life she always wanted as a wife and mother. Meredith loved working with the cattle and raising a garden. In the summer, she helped with haying. She loved kids and was a babysitter to many of the area kids. She loved to cook and was well known for her cinnamon rolls. Everyone was always welcomed warmly to the house.

After Jack passed, Merdie continued to raise cattle with the help of her grandson. In her later years, she doted on her dogs and cats, spent time visiting with special friends on the phone, reading books and watching TV shows. She became an active watcher of both the Griz and Cats football games. Merdie took great joy in all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents, Kenneth and Leila; and her two siblings, Terrance and Llanna.

She is survived by her daughter Candy Hot Springs, her son Mike (Lisa) Camas Prairie- 6 grandchildren Amy Ketchikan, Mike Hot Springs, Jacquie Anchorage, Amber (Eric) Anchorage, Rosa (Ty) Camas Prairie, Jack Novi, MI, and 11 great-grandchildren Joe, James, Lexie, Bert, Lily, Bill, Iris, Morgan, Arlo, Mason, Reid.

Meredith only wanted a graveside service, so the family is planning one later this spring.
